Fingers Crossed! (5/13/2024)

In honor of Mother's Day, yesterday, here is a hopeful update on upcoming litters.

Our sweet, little, Biscuit had a "Honeymoon Experience" last week. Biscuit had two breeding sessions with Toby, who has been the Dad for her last two litters. Assuming everything goes as expected, we should have mini-Goldendoodle puppies born around July 4th (!) and they will be old enough for their new homes around Labor Day of this year. (Those dates are estimates)

Biscuit is a 24 pound F1 mini-Goldendoodle - which means her mom was a Golden Retriever and her dad was a Poodle. Since Toby is also a Poodle (about 15 pounds), the puppies will be F1b mini-Goldendoodles which means they will tend to have curlier hair, and almost no shedding at all.

Biscuit's and Toby's past puppies have grown to between 15 and 25 pounds, with 20 pounds being a safe average for expectations. The past puppies have all been eagerly received, and all reports have been glowing with fun personalities and adorable looks.

Here are some of my favorite Biscuit pictures:

All Puppies Have Been Adopted (1/15)

The last puppy from Terra's litter went home juuust before this current "Arctic Blast". On the same day, we tested Gemma to confirm her pregnancy and to see how many puppies she was expecting. Unfortunately, that number is zero. It turns out that Gemma is NOT pregnant. Wow, that was not a happy day.

Our upcoming plans are as follows:

  1. Breed "Biscuit" for her (probably) final time. (F1B Mini-Goldendoodles) Breeding in February or March.
  2. Breed "Gemma" (at least try to). (Medium Bernedoodles) Breeding in May or June.
  3. Breed "Bella" (A new mom-to-be) (F1B Mini-Goldendoodles) Breeding in May or June.

For timing purposes, please remember that from the Breeding Date, there is approximately 9 weeks before puppies are born, and then the puppies stay with us for about 8 weeks before they are ready for their new homes. I would love to speed up that process, but I won't do anything that would hurt the Moms or puppies - and Nature makes the rules!

If that timetable doesn't work for you (first of all, I'm sorry!), please feel free to reach out to me and maybe I can help you find a puppy from a different breeder in the state. There are a few I would heartily recommend, so let me know!

Thanks!

One Fur-Baby Still Available (1/8/24)

Furry little "Teddy" is looking forward to meeting his new family. He is hoping for some people who like to play with him and his toys, and also want to hold him in their lap and snuggle with him.

His favorite activities are:

  • Snuggling
  • Getting Belly Rubs
  • Playing with toys
  • Chasing pine cones outside
  • Snuggling
  • Cuddling

Teddy is an F1 Bernedoodle (more details below). He has just turned 9 weeks old and he is fully Vet checked, vaccinated up to date, microchipped, and ready to go.

The puppies from last year's litter have grown to about 50 - 65 pounds and I think Teddy will fall into the 60-65 pound range.

He is a "little to no" shedding dog and he loves playing and snuggling (did I say that already?)

Let me know if you would like more information on Mr. Teddy. You'll love him as much as he will love you!

Hanging out with his cousin "Vesper"

Bring your puppy to work day. (Spoiler: I work from home)

Snow Puppies (12/18)

"There's no puppies like Snow Puppies, like no puppies I know..."

With all due apologies to Irving Berlin, or whoever wrote the original version of that song, today was all about dogs that love snow. And, guess what? Bernedoodle puppies love playing in the snow.

The stars of the following video are Trixie and her brother Teddy. They are both 6-weeks old. Trixie is almost always chasing after me and has a lot of brown on her face. Teddy, with a very white chest, is more of a "thinker" puppy and he loves to stop running and just look around at his surroundings and relax. He knows I will pick him up and pet him and he knows there is no reason to run. Trixie is always ready to snuggle.

Either (both) of these adorable puppies will be ready to go to their new homes just after New Years. Please let me know if you'd like more information.

Puppies Available! (11/26/23)

With Black Friday behind us, and Cyber Monday tomorrow, it's time to start planning for the next big thing: Adopt a Dog in December! We're still working on a smoother sounding name..., but we do have the adorable puppies you are looking for!

We have 2 Bernedoodle puppies (F1) who were born on November 7th, so they will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Mom is Terra, our family Bernese Mountain Dog (AKC), and the dad is Caesar, a 17 pound AKC poodle we have used many times as a stud. Their puppies from last year are averaging between 50-65 pounds. They will be low-to-no shedding and they will love being part of the family.

Terra

We have two puppies available this year. We had hoped for a larger litter, but these puppies are beyond adorable and ready to meet you and play with you.

"Teddy" is the boy of the litter and his focus is on sleeping and eating, and eating, and sleeping. He has a beautiful face and plenty of white on his shoulders and back. He's a cutie.

Our little girl is "Trixie" and she has the full tri-color face of a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is cuddly and loves belly rubs.

For more info on these puppies, or upcoming litters, please feel free to contact me at INFO@SherwoodFarms.dog or feel free to text me at 517//256//5668

These puppies will be ready for their new homes just around the first of the year. They will be all up to date on vaccines, and medications, they will be micro-chipped, and we will have a DNA record for you.

Puppies: Then And Now (10/24/23)

Terra's x-ray is coming up this Friday (27th) and we will finally get to "see" how many puppies Terra is carrying. She's definitely getting more "robust" and more "purposeful in her movements."

As I have learned (painfully) from being a Dad, the acceptable adjectives to use for pregnant moms include - but are not limited to: glowing, beautiful, adorable, expecting, precious, in a family way, maybe even "preggers" if you grew up in the 90's.

Telling your wife you are "surprised she still fits into those pajamas" or, "you must really like those pancakes," are both strong indicators that she is giving birth to your LAST child!

I am, similarly, trying to be polite to Terra as she waddles around the house, eats like a horse, and is very slow to get up from the floor to go outside - every 20 minutes! I am a much kinder, gentler, more compassionate man than I was before my wife found me and trained me. 👍

With Terra's puppies coming in about 2 weeks, i want to show some pictures of last year's litter, and a few "where are they now?" updates.

It is really hard to have a bad picture of a puppy. Puppies just ooze cuteness! I guess I should clarify a bit. I have taken thousands (literally, thousands) of bad pictures of cute puppies. It's not the puppy's fault, they are little children who squirm, jump, play and move around a lot! If the puppy is predominantly black in color, that can make it even more difficult as black fur requires exacting lighting and lots of prayer for the pictures to turn out! I'm just glad everything is digital now....

The following puppy pictures were taken when the puppies were 4 weeks old - shortly before Christmas 2022.

"Miss Black" has become "Aoife". (I believe it is pronounced "ee-fuh".) All reports tell me she is a wonderful friend and companion to the adopted Rescue Dogs - and her Human - she lives with. She weighs about 60 pounds.

**************************

"Mr. Purple" is now known as "Shaq" and he is a playful and loving boy who is called" the sweetest boy!" by his humans. He weighs about 65 pounds, and there is a chance, he may get a brother/sister from this year's litter!

**************************

"Mr. Orange" was adopted by the sister of our wonderful neighbors. I'm NOT just saying that because they live across the street from us. They actually are very wonderful - and they hardly ever complain when our leaves blow into their yard...every year! "Doug the Dog" as he is now known, was adopted into a family that was expecting their second child (maybe their first?, sorry, I get confused), and they already had a cat, and a pittie named "Charlie" - who was so kind and friendly to me when we met. They have a full house, but everyone gets along and Doug and Charlie are BFFs. Doug also weighs about 65 pounds.

The next update will be after the X-ray on Friday.... Stay Tuned!
